Baraka Madandi, de Tanzanie : l'université de Pékin en bourse complète et un stage chez Tencent

The route and the results

The account describes a full Chinese Government Scholarship covering a computer science bachelor's at Peking University, three consecutive semesters on the dean's list, and a Tencent internship completed while still enrolled.

The internship is the detail worth highlighting. Off-campus internships by international students require three things simultaneously — at least one completed academic year, written approval from the university, and an annotation on the residence permit recording the employer and permitted hours. Students who plan for that from the first year are the ones who can take an internship like this.

Studying in Beijing as a computer science student

Beijing concentrates the largest number of technology employers in the country, and Peking University sits inside the Haidian research district alongside Tsinghua and the Zhongguancun technology cluster. For a computer science student, that geography is the reason to accept a higher cost of living.

The corresponding trade-off is the monthly budget: Beijing and Shanghai run from roughly CNY 4,500 to 7,000 a month for a student, against CNY 2,100 to 3,600 in cities such as Changchun, Wuhan, Xi'an or Chengdu.

Reading the account

This testimonial, like the others from the same source, is promotional material published by a placement agency. Read it for the mechanism — funded bachelor's, dean's list performance, and an on-permit internship at a major employer — rather than as a general prediction.

The relevant expectation for applicants is that a CSC undergraduate scholarship is renewed annually against academic performance, so the dean's-list record is not decoration: it is what keeps the funding in place.
