CSC 2027/2028 application round: what opens in November and what to prepare now

The Chinese Government Scholarship cycle opens each November with embassy deadlines in February. Here is the document set to assemble in advance.

The Chinese Government Scholarship application window opens on 5 November each year, with embassy and agency deadlines falling between 1 and 22 February for September enrolment. Applications are submitted online through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System at studyinchina.csc.edu.cn, and incomplete applications are rejected automatically.

The two items that most often delay applications are the pre-admission document and the police clearance certificate. CSC requires at least one pre-admission letter issued by a target university, which means the university application must be completed months before the CSC deadline.

  • Pre-admission document from at least one target university — start 8 to 12 months ahead.
  • CSCA score report for all undergraduate applicants.
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed at a recognised clinic.
  • Police clearance certificate — the document most prone to delay.
  • Notarised diploma and transcripts with certified translations.
  • Study plan or research proposal, and two recommendation letters for graduate applicants.
Tuition, deadlines and stipend figures are revised each cycle. Always confirm the current position with the university's international student office and on the official portal at campuschina.org before you apply.
